“In life, sometimes we fight the current. Other times, it’s important to flow with it whatever.” That’s the philosophy of The Outsider, Netflix’s new drama starring Jared Leto.

The Oscar-winning actor, fresh from a turn in Blade Runner 2049, plays Nick Lowell, an American former G.I. imprisoned in Japan post-World War II, who joins the world of the yakuza, going with the flow of their way of life in exchange for his freedom.

The film, which co-stars Emile Hirsch, Tadanobu Asano, Kippei Shîna and Rory Cochrane, is directed by Martin Zandvliet, who recently helmed the gripping Land of Mine.
