M. Night Shyamalan’s Servant gets November release date and trailer
David Farnor | On 07, Oct 2019
M. Night Shyamalan’s Apple TV+ series Servant is one of the more mysterious offerings on the way to subscription service after its launch – and now, we know when it will be released.
The thriller follows a Philadelphia couple in mourning after an unspeakable tragedy creates a rift in their marriage and opens the door for a mysterious force to enter their home.
Lauren Ambrose, Toby Kebbell, Nell Tiger Free and Rupert Grint star in the series, which is created by Tony Basgallop and exec-produced by the Unbreakable director.
Shyamalan revealed the launch date at the New York Comic-Con, announcing it as part of a more genre of storytelling: “We’ve all grown up with 30-minute situation comedies, the sitcom; this is a sit-thriller. With television, you can have a different trajectory of movement [than a longer film]; because you’re going for 30 minutes, you gobble them up. There’s no fat on the bone.”
You can devour the show on 28th November, when it arrives on Apple TV+. The subscription service launches on 1st November and will cost £4.99 a month.
Servant: M. Night Shyamalan unveils teaser for Apple TV+ series
27th September 2019
This November sees a whole new streaming platform invade your living room, but several weeks out and we’re only just starting to find out more about some of its first TV series. Servant, a new psychological thriller from M. Night Shyamalan, is a case in point, but the mysterious outlier on Apple TV+’s slate has now unveiled its first teaser, and it’s suitably creepy stuff.
The series follows a Philadelphia couple in mourning after an unspeakable tragedy creates a rift in their marriage and opens the door for a mysterious force to enter their home.
The first teaser gives us a clue as to the source of that unsettling disturbance, with the sound of a baby’s electronic rocker building tension.
“I’ve been very quiet about what I have been working on with Apple TV+ but it has been one of the most incredible creative experiences,” Shyamalan tweeted. “We’re so excited to show it to you.”
The cast includes Lauren Ambrose, Toby Kebbell, Nell Tiger Free, and Rupert Grint.
You’ll be able to see them in action on Apple TV+, which launches worldwide on 1st November. The subscription streaming service will cost £4.99 a month, with a seven-day free trial – and one year’s free subscription for anyone who buys a new Apple device. Apple TV+ will be available through the Apple TV app on iPhone, iPad, Mac or Apple TV, as well as select smart TVs, streaming boxes and streaming sticks.
