MUBI’s Touch Me Not set for October UK cinema release

MUBI will release Touch Me Not in UK cinemas this October.
Adina Pintilie’s provocative and compassionate drama sits on the border between reality and fiction, as a filmmaker and her characters venture into a personal research project about intimacy.
Touch Me Not follows the emotional journeys of Laura, Tómas and Christian, offering a deeply empathic insight into their lives. Craving for intimacy yet also deeply afraid of it, they work to overcome old patterns, defence mechanisms and taboos, to cut the cord and finally be free.
The film, which stars Laura Benson, Tomas Lemarquis, Cristian Bayerlein and Grit Uhlemann, had its world premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival this year, where it won the Golden Berlin Bear for Best Film and the Best First Feature award. Since then, MUBI has snapped up the UK rights to the film, continuing the streaming service’s push into theatrical territory: it recently snapped up the UK cinema rights to Luca Guadagnino’s remake of Suspiria, also owns the rights to Gus Van Sant’s Don’t Worry He Won’t Get Far on Foot, and has introduced a new service called MUBI GO, which gives its subscribers one free cinema ticket to a specified film every week.
While Suspiria will only be distributed theatrically by MUBI, Touch Me Not will also be released exclusively online by the subscription service later this year, following its big screen debut. Touch Me Not will premiere in UK cinemas on Friday 19th October, with Adina Pintilie taking part in Q&As at Bristol Watershed on 22nd October and the ICA on 23rd October. It will also screen at the BFI London Film Festival on 16th and 17th October.
