Mr. Robot renewed for Season 3

Mr. Robot has been renewed for Season 3.
USA Network’s series, created by Sam Esmail, has been one of the buzziest shows for the network and, indeed of the last year, with its blend of cyber-thriller hacking, social politics and mental health issues creating a topical, insightful and gripping show.
The news of the renewal arrives hot on the heels of the premiere of Season 2, which has seen ratings decline, amid a mixed reception for the second run. The show, though, has lost none of its edgy style and remains a popular topic of conversation – enough to turn Mr. Robot into a prestige series.
This year, it has been nominated for six Emmy awards, including Best Drama and Best Actor for Rami Malek. It has also won two Golden Globes.
“We couldn’t be more proud of Mr. Robot, a series that has pushed boundaries, captured the cultural zeitgeist, and been honored as one of the best dramas on television,” said Chris McCumber, President, Entertainment Networks for NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment, in an official statement. “Midway through its second season, Mr. Robot continues to break new ground and open up new opportunities for the network.”
“Being the home studio for this wonderful, completely original show is an exhilarating experience. Sam and company just keep taking it to another level,” added Jeff Wachtel, Chief Content Officer, NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment and UCP President.
The show stars Rami Malek as Elliot, a security engineer who becomes mixed up in the underground hacker Fsociety. Led by their leader, Mr. Robot (Christian Slater), they aim to take down the giant Evil Corp, with Season 2 examining the fallout of a cyber attack upon the company. Portia Doubleday, Carly Chaikin, Martin Wallström, Grace Gummer, Michael Cristofer and Stephanie Corneliussen co-star.
In the UK, Mr. Robot has been snapped by Amazon, where it airs as an exclusive on Amazon Prime Video, with each episode arriving within 24 hours of their US broadcast. Season 1 is available, as well as Season 2 (new episodes are arriving every Thursday). You can catch up on Amazon Prime Video here, or read our reviews here.
