Trailer: Millie Bobby Brown stars in Netflix’s Damsel

Millie Bobby Brown and Netflix are teaming up to take on fairytales next year, and a new trailer gives us a first look at Damsel.
Juan Carlos Fresnadillo’s film will see the Stranger Things star play Elodie, a princess whose happily ever after is brutally interrupted when her Prince Charming sacrifices her to a dragon.
Written by Dan Mazeau, the film sees Elodie agree to marry a handsome prince, only to discover it was all a trap: the royal family recruited her as a sacrifice to repay an ancient debt. She’s then thrown into a cave with a fire-breathing dragon, relying solely on her wits and will to survive.
The film co-stars Angela Bassett and Robin Wright as Elodie’s stepmother and new mother-in-law, as well as Ray Winstone, Nick Robinson, Brooke Carter, and Shohreh Aghdashloo. Oh, and a really, really big dragon.

Robin Wright, Ray Winstone join Millie Bobby Brown in Netflix’s Damsel

Robin Wright and Ray Winstone will star alongside Millie Bobby Brown in the Netflix film Damsel.
Brown, who is a household name thanks to her starring role in Stranger Things and Enola Holmes, will take the lead role in the fantasy movie, as well as exec-producing it. 28 Weeks Later helmer Juan Carlos Fresnadillo will direct from a script by Dan Mazeau (Wrath of the Titans).
Brown will play Elodie, a princess who thinks she is marrying Prince Henry only to discover that she is actually being sacrificed to a dragon. Now, she’s got some star-studded company to join her. Joining the cast are Robin Wright (House of Cards), Ray Winstone (The Departed), Nick Robinson (The Kinds of Summer), Brooke Carter (The Alienist) and Shohreh Aghdashloo (House of Sand and Fog). Also joining the cast is Angela Bassett (Gunpowder Milkshake, Master of None), who will play Lady Bayford, the stepmother to Brown’s Elodie.

Millie Bobby Brown is sticking with Netflix for her next project, the fantasy film Damsel.
Brown became a household name when she starred in the hit Netflix series Stranger Things. She has since earned two Emmy nominations for her role in the sci-fi horror and went on to star in Enola Holmes for the streamer. Based on Nancy Springer’s The Enola Holmes Mysteries books, the playful Sherlock-adjacent tale premiered in September and become one of the most popular titles on the service at the time.
She will soon appear in Warner Bros sequel Godzilla vs Kong, reprising her role from Godzilla: King of the Monsters, but is building serious momentum back at Netflix, producing projects as well as starring in them. She is set to star in, and produce, an adaptation of Tess Sharpe’s thriller The Girls I’ve Been for the service, and also has a story called A Time Lost in development at Netflix, along with her sister, Paige Brown.
Damsel will see Brown again active in front and behind the camera, exec-producing as well as starring the fantasy tale. The film will be directed by 28 Weeks Later helmer Juan Carlos Fresnadillo and written by Dan Mazeau (Wrath of the Titans). Joe Roth and Jeff Kirschenbaum will produce and joining Brown as EPs will be Mazeau, Zack Roth and Chris Castaldi.
