“Someone set me up. You better pray you’ve got nothing to do with it.” That’s Mads Mikkelsen in Netflix’s new action film, Polar.
He plays the world’s top assassin, Duncan Vizla, aka The Black Kaiser, who’s settling into retirement when his former employer marks him as a liability to the firm. Against his will, he finds himself back in the game going head to head with an army of younger, faster, ruthless killers who will stop at nothing to have him silenced.
The thriller is based on the Dark Horse graphic novel called Polar: Came From the Cold by Victor Santos. Mikkelsen is an exec producer on the project, alongside Constantin’s Martin Moszkowicz, and Dark Horse’s Keith Goldberg and Mike Richardson. At the helm is Sweden’s Jonas Åkerlund, a music video veteran and the director of Lords of Chaos. In front of the camera, Mikkelsen is joined by Vanessa Hudgens, Matt Lucas and Vikings’ Katheryn Winnick.
Polar premieres on Netflix on 25th January. Here’s the trailer:
Polar is available on Netflix UK, as part of an £9.99 monthly subscription.
