Netflix drops new trailer for Ozark Season 2

Netflix has dropped a new trailer for Ozark Season 2, ahead of its release later this month.
The thriller, directed and produced by Jason Bateman, revolves around financial planner Marty (Jason Bateman) and Wendy Byrde (Laura Linney) and their family’s sudden relocation from the suburbs of Chicago to a summer resort community in the Missouri Ozarks. Rather than the familiar skyscrapers and trading floors, Netflix’s money drama explores capitalism, family dynamics, and survival, through the eyes of (anything but) ordinary Americans.
“Ozark’s gripping finale satisfyingly binds its several subplots together and promises considerably higher stakes, should the show be granted a second season. While it might not be the most fresh or focused Netflix series, there’re still plenty of thrills to be had in Ozark’s world of brooding tension and well-acted, absorbing characters,” we wrote in our review of Season 1.
Sure enough, Netflix renewed the programme for a sophomore run, a vote of confidence that was justified by the show’s eventual nomination for a Golden Globe award.
Season 2 will escalate things further, Bateman teased at Netflix’s TCA press tour event this weekend.
“There is so much good television now the demand is high to keep bringing it,” he told the press. He also addressed the comparisons many have made between Ozark and AMC’s Breaking Bad, saying that they were “not trying to replicate,” that Vince Gilliagan’s drama can “never be touched” and that he’d be happy if the show got “halfway there”.
Season 2 will premiere on Friday 31st August, Here’s the new trailer:

Netflix renews Ozark for Season 2
15th August 2017
Netflix has renewed Ozark for a second season.
The original series, directed and produced by Jason Bateman, revolves around financial planner Marty (Jason Bateman) and Wendy Byrde (Laura Linney) and their family’s sudden relocation from the suburbs of Chicago to a summer resort community in the Missouri Ozarks. Rather than the familiar skyscrapers and trading floors, Netflix’s money drama explores capitalism, family dynamics, and survival, through the eyes of (anything but) ordinary Americans.
“Bateman’s unflashy direction, an unsettling score, and a script that adroitly weaves smaller moments into important plot strands helps sustain a consistently fraught atmosphere,” we wrote in our review of Season 1. “Ozark’s gripping finale satisfyingly binds its several subplots together and promises considerably higher stakes, should the show be granted a second season. While it might not be the most fresh or focused Netflix series, there’re still plenty of thrills to be had in Ozark’s world of brooding tension and well-acted, absorbing characters.”
Now, within a month of the show’s premiere, a sophomore run has been given the green light. Chris Mundy will write and exec-produce the second season, alongside Bateman and Bill Dubuque and Mark Williams, who both created the show.

When things go awry, Marty must uproot his family from the skyscrapers of Chicago and relocate to the lazy lake region of the Missouri Ozarks.
Accompanied by the US national anthem, the new teaser gives us only a glimpse of the shady events and decisions awaiting , as they reach their last resort – yet somehow, this brief video is far more intriguing than the previous videos for the original series. Think Kill List meets National Lampoon’s Vacation and you get the idea.

Laura Linney and Jason Bateman to star in Netflix drama Ozark
27th July 2016
Laura Linney and Jason Bateman will star together in Ozark, a new Netflix drama series.
The steaming giant has ordered a 10-episode first season of the one-hour drama from Media Rights Capital, which is created by Bill Dubuque (The Judge). Dubuque and Bateman will serve as Exec Producers on the show, alongside showrunner Chris Mundy (Criminal Minds).
Described by Netflix as being “grounded in dark reality”, the money-centric story is set in the present day and revolves around financial planner Marty (Bateman) and Wendy Bird (Linney) and their family’s sudden relocation from the suburbs of Chicago to a summer resort community in the Missouri Ozarks. Rather than the familiar skyscrapers and trading floors, Ozark explores capitalism, family dynamics, and survival through the eyes of (anything but) ordinary Americans.
“Laura is such a brilliant talent, and we have been such admirers of her work, that we are elated to have her working in this compelling world that Jason Bateman, Bill Dubuque and Chris Mundy are bringing to life,” says Cindy Holland, Netflix Vice President of Original Content.
Laura Linney can currently be seen starring in Michael Grandage’s film Genius and recently wrapped Clint Eastwood’s Sully, Tom Ford’s Nocturnal Animals, and Oren Moverman’s The Dinner. Ozark will mark Laura’s first foray in television since she starred in and produced the Showtime series The Big C for which she won an Emmy & Golden Globe Award.
Bateman, meanwhile, will also be stepping behind the camera to direct the series, which is produced by his company, Aggregate Films, in association with Media Rights Capital for Netflix.
The series will premiere worldwide on Netflix in 2017.
