Apple TV+ has unveiled a new trailer for the second season of Truth Be Told.
From showrunner Nichelle Tramble Spellman, the series provides a glimpse into America’s obsession with true crime podcasts.
Starring and executive produced by Octavia Spencer, the new season also stars Academy Award nominee Kate Hudson in her first lead role in a TV series. The 10-episode second season of the anthology drama follows Octavia Spencer as podcaster Poppy Parnell, who risks everything to pursue truth and justice. Poppy dives into a new case that deeply involves her childhood friend, media mogul Micah Keith (Hudson). As developments unfold, their lifelong friendship is put to the ultimate test. In addition to Hudson, joining the sophomore season are series regulars Christopher Backus, Alona Tal, David Lyons, Andre Royo, Merle Dandridge and Mychala Faith Lee. Returning cast includes Mekhi Phifer, Ron Cephas Jones, Tracie Thoms, Haneefah Wood, Katherine LaNasa, Michael Beach and Tami Roman.
Season 2 premieres on 20th August, with episodes arriving weekly.

Truth Be Told will return to Apple TV+ this August, and a new trailer gives us a first look at Season 2.

Season 2 sees investigative reporter turned true crime podcaster Poppy Parnell (Spencer) dive into a new case that deeply involves her childhood friend, media mogul Micah Keith (Kate Hudson). As developments unfold, their lifelong friendship is put to the ultimate test. In addition to Hudson, joining the sophomore season are series regulars Christopher Backus, Alona Tal, David Lyons, Andre Royo, Merle Dandridge, and Mychala Faith Lee. The series is created by Nichelle Tramble Spellman and produced by Hello Sunshine, Chernin Entertainment and Endeavor Content. Serving as executive producers alongside showrunner Spellman are Octavia Spencer; Reese Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter for Hello Sunshine; Peter Chernin and Jenno Topping for Chernin Entertainment; and Mikkel Nørgaard.

Kate Hudson joins Truth Be Told Season 2

Kate Hudson has joined cast of Truth Be Told for its second season.
The series, which explores America’s obsession with true crime podcasts and navigates urgent concerns about privacy, media and race, premiered on Apple TV+ last year as one of first original titles. Created by Nichelle Tramble Spellman, it stars Octavia Spencer as podcaster Poppy Parnell, who became a national sensation off the back of a renowned murder case.
Season 1 saw new evidence compel her to reopen that case, leading to come face to face with Warren Cave (Aaron Paul), the man she may have mistakenly helped to put behind bars. Season 2 of the anthology programme will see Spencer return, but this time, will put her next to co-star Hudson (Almost Famous). She’ll play Micah Keith, a lifestyle guru and old friend of Poppy’s who sees her friendship with Parnell put to the test be a new case that involves both of them.
Production on Season 2 will begin on 26th October.
