He’s All That: Netflix nabs rights to She’s All That remake

Netflix has picked up the worldwide rights to He’s All That, a remake of the rom-com He’s All That.
The 1999 teen classic, which starred Freddie Prinze Jr, Rachael Leigh Cook, Paul Walker and Matthew Lillard, followed a high school jock who makes a bet with his friends to turn a geeky outsider into prom queen, only to end up falling in love with her. Now, the film’s getting reimagined as a contemporary tale, following an influencer who accepts a challenge to turn the school’s biggest loser into prom king.
Addison Rae and Tanner Buchanan star as the duo, with the cast also including Madison Pettis, Peyton Meyer, Isabella Crovetti, Annie Jacob and Myra Molloy – plus Rachael Leigh Cook and Matthew Lillard.
From Mean Girls and Freaky Friday director Mark Waters, and a script from the original film’s writer R Lee Fleming Jr, the movie is produced by Jennifer Gibgot and Andrew Panay, alongside Bill Block for Miramax.
Now, Netflix has snapped up the film, and will release it globally later this year.
