“When did he turn himself in?” “Two months ago.” That’s the sound of Jhon Jeiver returning to society in Netflix’s new original thriller, Wild District.
The Colombian series follows a lethal guerrilla fighter who escapes the jungle after the signing of the Colombian Peace Agreements. He arrives in Bogotá escaping from his past, and tries to reinsert himself in society while looking to reconnect with his long lost family. But he soon finds himself wrapped in a web of crime and corruption, struggling to understand the ways of the concrete jungle, protect his family from his past, and faced with the moral dilemma of choosing what side of the law he wants to be on.
Filmed entirely in Colombia and produced by Dynamo for Netflix, the 10-episode actioner is created by Cristian Conti, directed by Javier Fuentes-León and Carlos Moreno, and written by Cristian Conti, Javier Gullón, Javier Fuentes-León and Mauricio Leyva. It stars Juan Pablo Raba and a host of Colombian talent, including many recognisable from Netflix’s own Narcos, which has kicked off a wave of investment by the streaming giant in Colombian productions, as well as shows and films across Latin America.
Wild District will premiere on Netflix on Friday 19th October. Here’s the new trailer:
