Grab your friends, pop open a bottle, and get ready to go on a road trip with Amy Poehler, because it’s time for a tour of Wine Country.
Poehler’s directorial debut, which Netflix picked up last year, is written by Emily Spivey, Liz Cackowski, with Morgan Sackett producing alongside the Parks and Recreation star. It follows Abby (Poehler), who, in honour of Rebecca (Rachel Dratch)’s 50th birthday, plans a scenic Napa getaway with their best, longtime friends. Workaholic Catherine (Ana Gasteyer), post-op Val (Paula Pell), homebody Jenny (Emily Spivey), and weary mom Naomi (Maya Rudolph) are equally sold on the chance to relax and reconnect. Yet as the alcohol flows, real world uncertainties intrude on the punchlines and gossip, and the women begin questioning their friendships and futures.
The comedy co-stars Tina Fey, Jason Schwartzman and Cherry Jones and arrives on Netflix on Friday 10th May. Here’s the trailer:

Jason Schwartzman joins Amy Poehler’s Netflix directorial debut, Wine Country
2nd April 2018
Jason Schwartzman has joined the cast of Amy Poehler’s directorial debut, Wine Country.
The Netflix movie, which Poehler announced last month, already has one heck of an emsemble, including Maya Rudolph, Tine Fey, Emily Spivey and Poehler herself. Schwartzman and Cherry Jones are the latest names in front of the camera, with the rest of the cast including Rachel Dratch, Ana Gasteyer and Paula Pell.
Written by Spivey and Liz Cackowski, Wine Country sees a group of friends travel to Napa for weekend celebration of a 50th birthday. It’s produced by Poehler’s Paper Kite Productions and Dunshire Productions, with Poehler, Morgan Sackett (Parks and Recreation, Veep, Popstar) and Carla Hacken (Hell or High Water) all on producing duties.

It marks something of a reunion for Spivey and Poehler, who worked on NBC’s Parks and Recreation and Saturday Night Live. Schwartzman has also appeared on Parks and Rec. It marks an ongoing relationship between Poehler and Netflix as well, with the comedian teaming up with Natasha Lyonne and Leslye Headland to create a new comedy series for streaming giant about a seemingly inescapable party in New York City.
While Poehler has both created and directed TV before, with several episodes of Parks and Rec and Broad City under her belt, Wine Country is her first time at the feature film helm. Production is already underway in Los Angeles and Napa.
