Jamie Foxx and John Boyega are teaming up for a new Netflix film, They Cloned Tyrone.
The film, which is set up at Macro, is the directorial debut of Creed 2 writer Juel Taylor. Co-written by Taylor and Tony Rettenmaier, the film is a “pulpy mystery” and follows a trio who investigate a series of eerie events.
The project was first announced last year with the Star Wars and Attack the Block star Boyega lined up for one of the roles. Now, Netflix has announced the cast for all three of its three lead characters, with Foxx co-starring alongside Boyega. It marks a reunion for Foxx and Netflix, after the Collateral and Ray star appeared in sci-fi thriller Project Power. Foxx also has a series, Dad Stop Embarrassing Me, in the works at the streamer with his daughter.
Foxx and Boyega will be joined by Teyonah Parris, the breakout star of 2014’s Dear White People and soon to be seen in the reboot of Candyman written by Jordan Peele. She has also appeared in If Beale Street Could Talk, Amazon’s Chi-Raq, and plays Monica Rambeau in Disney+ Marvel series WandaVision.
They Cloned Tyrone is produced by Fox, with no word yet on a production start date.
