ITVX continues to expand its box set line-up with a new deal to bring Freaks and Geeks, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and more to its free streaming library.
The broadcaster launched its revamp of ITV Hub this month, letting viewers stream new programme exclusives, with adverts, for free. It also include a subscription option for ad-free streaming that gives access to BritBox UK’s library through the ITVX app. For more details, click here.
As well as its own originals, such as Litvinenko and A Spy Among Friends, ITV has been taking a leaf out of All 4’s books and licensing older shows for binge-watching. A recent deal with Warner Bros will bring DC dramas Arrow, Gotham and Smallville to the platform, along with The Vampire Diaries and The Originals.
Now, it’s inked an agreement with Paramount Global Content Distribution to bring another wave of shows to the service.
The multi-year deal will see vampire horror From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series starring DJ Cotrona become available in January. Beauty and the Beast starring Jay Ryan and Kristin Kreuk will be available from February 2023, and supernatural mystery Medium starring Patricia Arquette will follow soon thereafter.
Freaks and Geeks, starring James Franco and Seth Rogan, will be available from January 2023, as well Diablo Cody’s United States of Tara starring Toni Collette. Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, starring Rachel Bloom, Everybody Hates Chris, narrated by Chris Rock, and Jane the Virgin starring Gina Rodriguez will follow in the spring.
ITV’s Head of Content Acquisitions, Sasha Breslau said: “We are thrilled to be working with Paramount Global Content Distribution to bring such a fantastic mix of content to ITVX viewers in 2023 and beyond.”
The deal was negotiated by ITV Head of Content Acquisitions Sasha Breslau and Controller of Acquisitions, Rights and Regulatory, Jonathan Vandermeer.
