ITV has acquired The Reunion, the six-part drama based on the French bestseller and starring Ioan Gruffudd.
The French Riviera-set series, adapted from Guillaume Musso’s novel La Jeune Fille et la Nuit, started shooting on location in the south of France last summer with an international cast headlined by Gruffudd (Fantastic Four, Liar), Ivanna Sakhno (Pacific Rim Uprising) and Grégory Fitoussi (Peaky Blinders, Spiral), Dervla Kiwan, Vahina Giocante (Ultimate Heist, Mata Hari), Rupert Graves (Sherlock), Shemss Audat (Spiral, Baron Noir), Cosimo Fusco (Friends, Mentalist), and Salóme Gunnarrsdóttir (Pennyworth, Zack Snyder’s Justice League).
Directed by Bill Eagles (Fringe, Gotham, Pennyworth), the English-language series is produced by Make It Happen Studio (No Second Chance), co-produced with the European Alliance (France Televisions, RAI, ZDF) and presented by MGM International Television Productions with MGM handling distribution.
Marston Bloom (Selection Day, Marcella) penned the adaptation. The story opens in the present day, at a high school reunion in the south of France where three former friends reconnect. They grew apart and lost touch, but they are still bound by a tragic secret tied to the disappearance of a high school girl who went missing 25 years ago in the region.
The series will premiere on ITVX – the soon-to-be-revamped streaming home of ITV, bringing ITV Hub and BritBox together in one place – in the autumn. It will air on ITV’s linear channels in 2023.
