Her, American Hustle and other films are now available to stream on blinkbox in a new deal with EFD.
The streaming service has had a roller-coaster of a year, thanks to reports that its owner, Tesco, is looking to sell it off. If anything, though, blinkbox keeps getting bigger, launching new marketing campaigns, adding a download feature for iPad and Android tablet owners and signing a slew of new contracts.
A few months ago, a tie-up with Channel 4 added hundreds of hours of TV series to the site, including global franchise The Inbetweeners and hit comedies Peep Show, Miranda and Derek, starring Ricky Gervais.
Now, blinkbox has inked a deal with Entertainment Film Distributors, which means blinkbox will offer 100 per cent of the major new films released in the UK. Key titles added in the EFD deal include American Hustle, The Butler, Transcendence, Her and August: Osage County.
Douglas Davis, blinkbox’s director, content acquisition & sales, says: “The new deal with EFD means we have 100% coverage of major new release movies released in the UK, strengthening our position as the UK’s go to service for those wanting to rent, buy and enjoy the latest movies and TV on multiple devices, without being tied into a subscription or one specific brand of device. And only blinkbox allows you to earn Clubcard points as you buy and rent your digital films.”
