Try TV on Us: blinkbox offers episodes of hit TV shows for free

If you’ve ever tried a sandwich in a supermarket to see if you want to buy it, you’ll be very familiar with the weird looks you get from other people – and the threats you get from security guards.
When it comes to TV shows, though, the notion of trying before you buy is increasingly common – a trend encouraged perhaps by the traditional notion that piracy is often used by viewers to sample movies or TV series before later purchasing them. And so this weekend, Sky are offering the first episode of a range of TV shows on YouTube for samplers, while HBO recently put the first two episodes of Girls Season 3 on YouTube to get people to sign up.
Now, blinkbox are joining in with Try TV on Us. The Tesco-owned pay-per-view streaming service is giving customers the chance to sample TV series by gifting episodes from 28 different series.
The service has reached agreements with major studios to run the special offer on a selection of popular series available to buy in full on the service – until Sunday 2nd March.
The free episodes include the pilot episode of Emmy award-winning series Breaking Bad and BBC’s Sherlock. As well as drama, customers will be able see Zooey Deschanel’s hit comedy New Girl and How I Met Your Mother.
Customers can watch as many of the 28 episodes as they like during the promotional period.
