Game of Thrones Season Three is now available to watch on blinkbox. But why should you bother downloading it? Here are some simple reasons:

1. It’s not on DVD

You’d think after three seasons that HBO would’ve seen sense, but no: when is Game of Thrones Season Three out on DVD in the UK? March 2014. That year-long gap between the show’s broadcast and the disc release is one of the reasons that has seen the show become one of the most-pirated in the world.

Now, though, you don’t have to wait eight months to see it: blinkbox’s deal to distribute it digitally is a great step forward for impatient fans but an even bigger step for an industry that is finally waking up to the most logical way to combat piracy.

Watch to watch Game of Thrones without stealing? blinkbox is the answer. Screw guilt and not giving the people who made this show money. And at £17.99 for standard definition, it’s cheaper than HBO charge for DVDs anyway.

2. It’s in HD

blinkbox didn’t use to do HD. Now, thanks to Game of Thrones Season Three, they do. The price is higher at £23.99, but it’s still cheaper than HBO’s Blu-ray price tags. And it’s worth it: after all, who wants to sees blurry dragons, breasts and beards when they could download them all in lovely high definition? Being able to watch it on your PS3, PC, certain Smart TVs and tablets mean you can enjoy in more places than your Blu-ray too.

3. They made a 40-ft dragon skull

In a bizarre publicity stunt this week, blinkbox built a giant 40-foot dragon skull on a beach in Dorset and paraded it around the country. Why? Do they need a reason? Anyone mad enough to construct their own skeletal dragon head gets our vote.

As well as breasts, boobs, beards, the high production values, deep political drama, stunning landscapes and the constant uncertainty of not knowing who George RR Martin’s stories might kill off next, what other show on TV allows you to enjoy such simple pleasures  as Peter Dinklage slapping the hell out of evil little blonde boys?
