“Whenever I stay at a White Lotus, I always have a memorable time…” That’s the ominous sound of The White Lotus returning for a second getaway, and a new trailer gives us a first look at what’s in store.
Created, written, and directed by Mike White, the social satire is this time set at an exclusive Sicilian resort and follows the exploits of various guests and employees over the span of a week. The ensemble cast includes F Murray Abraham, Jennifer Coolidge, Adam DiMarco, Beatrice Grannò, Meghann Fahy, Jon Gries, Tom Hollander, Sabrina Impacciatore, Michael Imperioli, Theo James, Aubrey Plaza, Haley Lu Richardson, Will Sharpe, Simona Tabasco and Leo Woodall.
You can see them in action on 31st October, when the seven-part series airs its first episode at 2am (the same time as its US broadcast) on Sky Atlantic and then again at 9pm, with each episode available on-demand on Sky and NOW – and new episode arriving weekly.
Here’s the trailer:
Tom Hollander, F Murray Abraham join The White Lotus Season 2
23rd January 2022
Tom Hollander and F Murray Abraham are the latest big names to sign on to star in Season 2 of The White Lotus.
Created, written, and directed by Mike White (School of Rock), the HBO series is a social satire set at an exclusive Hawaiian resort. It follows the vacations of hotel guests over the span of a week as they relax and rejuvenate in paradise. But with each passing day, a darker complexity emerges in these picture-perfect travellers, the hotel’s cheerful employees, and the idyllic locate itself.
Season 1 starred Murray Bartlett (HBO’s Looking), Connie Britton (Nashville), Jennifer Coolidge (2 Broke Girls) and Alexandra Daddario (HBO’s True Detective).
“Mike White’s scathing dissection of privilege is a deliciously awkward dive into darkness, delusion and just desserts,” we wrote in our review.
Before Season 1 landed on UK screens, HBO had already greenlit a second chapter, which will leave Hawaii behind and follow a different group of vacationers as they jet to another White Lotus property and settle in temporarily among its inhabitants.
While the need for another season that could say something new or different is debatable, HBO is wasting no time in attracting talent to attract audiences’ attention.
Oscar winner F Murray Abraham (Mythic Quest, Homeland) will play Bert Di Grasso, an elderly man traveling with his son, Dominic Di Grasso (The Sopranos veteran Michael Imperioli).
Tom Hollander (The Night Manager) will play English expat Quentin, who is travelling with friends and his nephew.
Also cast are Adam DiMarco (The Order) as Albie Di Grasso, a recent college graduate who is the grandson of Bert, and Haley Lu Richardson (Unpregnant) as Portia, a young woman traveling with her boss.
They join Aubrey Plaza as Harper Spiller, a woman on vacation with her husband and his friends.
Also rumoured to be returning from Season 1 is Jennifer Coolidge as Tanya McQuoid, thought to be Portia’s boss.
