Halle Berry has inked a new deal with Netflix that will see her continue to partner with the streamer on new feature films.
The news comes as Berry’s feature directorial debut, Bruised, released globally on Netflix last week and landed at the No 1 spot in the USA and the second spot on the Top 10 Global English Film List. The film was watched for 47.7M hours in its first five days.
In Bruised, Berry stars in the triumphant story of a fighter who reclaims her power, in and out of the ring, when everyone has counted her out. (Read our review here.)
It was also recently announced that she will headline a new Netflix movie, The Mothership, which she will exec-produce. The sci-fi adventure follows Sara Morse (Halle Berry) one year since her husband mysteriously vanished from their rural farm. When she discovers a strange, extraterrestrial object underneath their home, Sara and her kids embark on a race to find their husband, father and most importantly – the truth. She will star in Netflix’s action film Our Man From Jersey alongside Mark Wahlberg.
Now, Berry has inked an agreement that will see her starring in – and producing – more films for the streamer.
Scott Stuber, Netflix’s Head of Global Film, says: “There are few people with a career like Halle Berry. She’s an award winning actress, producer and as audiences saw this past week, she’s an incredible director. We’re thrilled to be in her corner as she delivers power in front of and behind the camera in Bruised and look forward to telling more stories together.”
Berry said: “My directorial debut, Bruised, was a labor of love and I knew that Scott and Ted would treat it with great care. The Netflix team has not only been collaborative and creative, but extremely passionate and a delight to work with. I am beyond grateful for the partnership and look forward to telling more stories together.”
