Netflix has released a heap of new pictures from Marvel’s Jessica Jones, giving us our first look at the new series – including David Tennant as Kilgrave.
Described as “an enigmatic figure from Jessica’s past”, who sends “shockwaves through the former super hero’s world”, Tennant will play the villain opposite Breaking Bad’s Krysten Ritter, who stars as the titular hero.
“Krysten Ritter has the type of range, spanning the comic to the tragic, that makes for the stuff of the best Marvel heroes,” said Jeph Loeb, Executive Producer/Marvel’s Head of Television, when her casting was first announced.
The show, exec produced by Showrunner Melissa Rosenberg and Liz Friedman (Elementary) – along with Marvel’s Head of TV, Jeph Loeb – is the second of four live action comic book series on Netflix. Together, Daredevil, Luke Cage and Iron Fist will lead to the teaming up of The Defenders, a crossover event series.
The show follows Jones after a tragic ending to her short-lived super hero stint, as she rebuilds her personal life and career as a detective – only to get pulled into strange cases in New York City. Ritter and Tennant are joined by a cast that includes Rachael Taylor, Carrie-Anne Moss, Eka Darville, Erin Moriarty and Wil Traval. Mike Colter will also appear as Luke Cage, before his own solo outing next year.
All episodes of Marvel’s Jessica Jones will premiere on Netflix on Friday 20th November.
