Gangs of London Season 2 set for October air date
David Farnor | On 24, Sep 2022
Gangs of London Season 2 will officially arrive on our screens this October, and a new trailer gives us a fresh glimpse of the action-packed series’ return.
The series, which is created by Gareth Evans and his creative partner Matt Flannery, is set in the heart of London, a city being torn apart by the turbulent power struggles of the international gangs that control it and the sudden power vacuum that’s created when the head of London’s most powerful crime family is assassinated.
Season 2 picks up one year after the violent reckonings of Season 1. The surviving Wallaces are scattered, the Dumanis broken and estranged, and ex-undercover cop Elliot (Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísù) is now being forced to work for the investors. To restore order, the investors have aligned behind heroin baron Asif Afridi and together they have installed a new ruling force in London in the form of brutal gang leader – Koba. His vision for the criminal landscape is a dictatorship, a world in which old school gangster codes don’t exist and in which he holds a complete monopoly over London’s drug trade. But this monopoly can’t last forever.
Dìrísù will be joined by Paapa Essiedu, Lucian Msamati, Michelle Fairley, Orli Shuka, Pippa Bennett-Warner, Brian Vernel, Narges Rashidi, Asif Raza and Valene Kane, all reprising their roles from Season 1.
Joining the ensemble cast are Waleed Zuaiter (Baghdad Central, The Spy) as Koba, Jasmine Armando in her first TV role as Saba, Fady El-Sayed (Baghdad Central, A Private War) as Faz, Salem Kali (Un Prophete, Dealer) as Basem and Aymen Hamdouchi (SAS: Red Notice, Criminal: UK) as Hakim.
You can see them in action when Season 2 premieres on Sky Atlantic and NOW on 20th October, with all episodes available on-demand at once.

Sky has revealed the trailer for the return of Gangs of London.
The series, which is created by Gareth Evans and his creative partner Matt Flannery, is set in the heart of London, a city being torn apart by the turbulent power struggles of the international gangs that control it and the sudden power vacuum that’s created when the head of London’s most powerful crime family is assassinated.
Set one year after the tumultuous events of Season 1, Season 2 charts London’s map and soul being redrawn. Since the collapse of the Wallace Dumani empire, order is lacking, and the energy and chaos of a gold rush threatens the city with gangland anarchy. The Investors are viewing the city as a place of ruin and decide enough is enough. Licensing a new gang to restore stability, drama instead ensues. These brutal enforcers bring a new kind of authority, coldly designed to terrorise the other gangs into submission. Anyone doing business in the city must now go through them, and our gangs must decide where their loyalties lie if they are to survive. Who will win the battle for the soul of London?

Gangs of London lines up Season 2 directors
16th May 2021
Gangs of London is getting into gear for its second season, and while Gareth Evans is stepping away from the helm, the show has lined up directors to keep the action coming.
The series, which is created by The Raid director and his creative partner Matt Flannery, is set in the heart of London, a city being torn apart by the turbulent power struggles of the international gangs that control it and the sudden power vacuum that’s created when the head of London’s most powerful crime family is assassinated.
Starring Sope Dirisu, Joe Cole, Colm Meaney, Lucian Msamati and Michelle Fairley, the nine-part first season was the biggest Sky Original drama launch on Sky Atlantic of the past five years with a 7-day cumulative audience of over 2.23m viewers for the opening episode. We praised the show in our review for its “dizzyingly brutal action in a grippingly dark underworld”.
Season 2 will see Corin Hardy (The Nun), who directed four episodes of the first season, become the lead director as well as an exec-producer, taking over the reins from Evans, who remains an exec-producer alongside Flannery and Thomas Benski, CEO of producers Pulse Films.
Hardy will direct another four episodes of Season 2’s eight instalments. The others will be directed by two other action veterans: Marcela Said, who has helmed by Netflix’s Lupin and Narcos: Mexico, and Nima Nourizadeh, who helmed Apple TV+ anthology Little America and 2015’s American Ultra.
Tom Butterworth (Tin Star, Ashes to Ashes) will take on the role of lead writer.
“Helping Gareth and the team bring the first season of Gangs of London kicking, screaming and exploding to life was an invigorating high-dive into the world of cinematic television,” Hardy told THR.
“The audience response to Gangs of London was phenomenal and so it’s an honour to be handed the reigns for Season 2 to continue building our (under)world and get to tell the next chapter of this action-packed and emotional crime saga, which, if you’ve been watching so far, you’ll know, is about to kick off for real.”
“I could not have hoped for a better duo to share directing duties with than Xavier Gens and Corin Hardy. Now, as Gangs gears up for Season 2, myself and Matt Flannery are beyond excited to see what Corin and the team have in store,” said Evans. “I have no doubt under his direction the journey for this incredible cast of characters will be a visceral, thrill-ride packed with emotion and bloodshed.”

The visceral, action-packed thriller takes audiences on an immersive journey into the hidden heart of the capital.
