Narcos: Mexico is back on our screens this autumn for its third and final season.
The spin-off from the drug-trafficking drama sees the previously Colombia-focused series cross the border into new territory. Season 1 starred Diego Luna as Félix Gallardo, who took the helm of the Guadalajara Cartel in the 1980s and began to build an empire. Michael Peña co-starred as Kiki Camarena, the DEA agent trying to bring him down. The end of Season 1 saw a secret member of the cast unveiled: Scoot McNairy as DEA agent Walt Breslin, the show’s narrator throughout the season.
Season 2 aired last year and continued the story of Gallardo, as control over his growing cartel began to slip – while Breslin led a major operation against Gallardo that wasn’t always by the book.
Season 3 will take us into the 1990s, as the drug business meets globalisation and war breaks out in the wake of Gallardo’s arrest. As a new generation of kingpins emerges, truth becomes the first casualty. Scoot McNairy will be back once again as Breslin, joined by returning cast members José María Yázpik, Alfonso Dosal, Mayra Hermosillo, Matt Letscher, Manuel Masalva, Alejandro Edda, Gorka Lasaosa.
Luna won’t return, but other cast members will include: Benito Antonio “Bad Bunny” Martinez Ocasio as Arturo “Kitty” Paez, a member of Ramon Arellano Felix’s gang, called the “Narco Juniors”; Luis Gerardo Méndez as Victor Tapia, a Juarez cop with a moral dilemma; Alberto Guerra as Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada, an independent drug trafficker; and Luisa Rubino as Andrea Nuñez, an idealistic and ambitious journalist.
Season 3 will premiere on 5th November, with the concluding chapter taking the spin-off to the same number of seasons as the original Narcos. Here’s the first teaser trailer:
