Cuba and the Cameraman: Netflix delves into one island’s history

One island, one man, five decades. Netflix is giving us an unrivalled look at the evolution of Cuba in its new original documentary.
For the past 42 years, director Jon Alpert (Alive Day Memories, Baghdad ER) has been following life in the Communist nation during and following the Cuban Revolution. Now, he has condensed that into a single, expansive film, Cuba and the Cameraman.
Netflix’s documentary examines the history of Fidel Castro and three Cuban families affected by his policies. Because of Alpert’s unique access to the island, and the trust and friendships earned over decades, the result is a candid and revealing never-before-seen portrait of Cuba.
Cuba and the Cameraman premieres on Netflix on 24th November. Here’s the trailer – or head this way for our full guide to what’s coming soon to Netflix UK in November 2017.
