American Gods unveils new trailer for Season 2

“When people first came to America, they brought us with them…” That’s the sound of Mr. Wednesday (Ian McShane) rallying the troops in Season 2 of American Gods, as a war continues to brew.
The series, based on Neil Gaiman’s best-selling novel, sees the traditional gods of mythological roots from around the world steadily losing believers to an upstart pantheon of gods reflecting society’s modern love of money, technology, media, celebrity and drugs – and they’re not about to take it lying down. Starring Ricky Whittle (The 100) as Shadow Moon, the man caught in the middle of the conflict, the series premiered back in 2017, impressing with its vivid visuals and epic scale. Now, after the production was halted by the departure of Michael Green and Bryan Fuller as showrunners, the series is finally making a return.
Season 2 sees Shadow begin to understand this strange world of the gods and carve out a place in it as a believer in order to survive. But change will require sacrifice. While Mr. World (Crispin Glover, Alice in Wonderland) plots revenge for the attack against him in Season 1, Shadow throws in his lot with Wednesday’s attempt to convince the Old Gods of the case for full-out war, with Laura (Emily Browning, A Series of Unfortunate Events) and Mad Sweeney (Pablo Schreiber, Orange is the New Black) in tow. A council at the House on the Rock explodes into chaos, sending deities both Old and New on quests across America that will converge on Cairo, Illinois.
American Gods also stars Yetide Badaki (This Is Us) as Bilquis, Bruce Langley (Deadly Waters) as Tech Boy, Mousa Kraish (Transparent) as The Jinn, Omid Abtahi(Legends) as Salim, and Demore Barnes (12 Monkeys) as Mr. Ibis, as well as Kahyun Kim (Shameless) replacing Gillian Anderson as New Media.
Season 2 premieries on Amazon Prime Video in the UK on Monday 11th March, with new episodes arriving weekly, within 24 hours of their US broadcast on STARZ. Here’s the new trailer:

A new year for many people means a new start or a new goal. For us, it means we don’t have long to wait until American Gods to return, with Season 2 confirmed as premiering on Amazon Prime Video in the UK on Monday 11th March.
Starring Ricky Whittle (The 100) as Shadow Moon and Ian McShane (Deadwood) as Mr. Wednesday, the one-hour epic is adapted from Neil Gaiman’s best-selling novel about a war brewing between Old Gods and New Gods: the traditional gods of mythological roots from around the world steadily losing believers to an upstart pantheon of idolised deities, reflecting society’s modern love of money, technology, media, celebrity and drugs.
Season 2 sees the battle between Old and New continue to brew, as we join Mr. Wednesday (McShane) just a few short hours after his declaration of war and the showdown that ensued at Easter’s party. Shadow (Whittle) will begin to understand this strange world of the gods and carve out a place in it as a believer in order to survive. But change will require sacrifice.

The storm is coming – but luckily, there’s a new trailer for American Gods Season 2 to help us get ready.
Based on Neil Gaiman’s best-selling book of the same name, the series stars Ricky Whittle (The 100, Austenland) as protagonist ex-con Shadow Moon, Ian McShane (Deadwood, Pirates of the Caribbean) as Mr. Wednesday, and Emily Browning (Sucker Punch, Legend) as Shadow’s wife, Laura Moon. Season 2 will see the return of Pablo Schreiber (13 Hours, Orange Is the New Black) as Mad Sweeney, Yetide Badaki (Aquarius, Masters of Sex) as Bilquis, Bruce Langley as Tech Boy and Kristin Chenoweth, as Easter and the addition of some new characters as well.
It will not, however, see the return of showrunners Michael Green and Bryan Fuller, who departed last year after the successful first run. Gillian Anderson, who played one of the show’s standout characters, Media, has also exited the series. Nonetheless, production kicked off this year, with Gaiman taking on a more traditional showrunner role for the series’ sophomore run. As the crew wraps on the Season 2 finale this weekend, this new glimpse of what’s in store is a promising sign that Starz’ adaptation of Gaiman’s novel as lost none of its ambition or striking visuals. With war brewing between the old gods and the new, the fight for what humankind believes has never looked so enticing.
American Gods returns to Amazon Prime Video in the UK in 2019. Here’s the video:
