Fleabag has dominated the 2019 TCA awards, walking away with three of the top prizes.

Russian Doll, which the led the nominations alongside Pose, was named the best new programme, but the night belonged to Fleabag (released by Amazon Prime Video in the USA, despite being a BBC Three joint in the UK). The awards, which were handed out by the Television Critics Association at the weekend, crowned Fleabag not only the best comedy series – beating out Amazon’s The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel – but also the best programme of the year, beating HBO’s Game of Thrones and Netflix’s Russian Doll. The TCA topped it off by giving the prize of individual achievement in comedy to creator and star Phoebe Waller-Bridge.

Better Call Saul was the surprise winner of the top drama prize, seeing off competition from Killing Eve, Pose and Succession. Michelle Williams won the individual achievement in drama prize for her role as Gwen Verdon in FX’s Fosse/Verdon. The top miniseries prize, meanwhile, went to HBO’s Chernobyl.

Fleabag wasn’t the only show to walk away with more than one award, though: David Milch also accepted a lifetime achievement prize as well as the TCA Heritage Award for HBO’s Deadwood, which returned for its farewell movie event this year.
