Finding the Way Back set for July UK release

Finding the Way Back, starring Ben Affleck, is getting a digital release this July, as cinemas remain closed during the coronavirus pandemic.
Venues across the UK are starting the long and tricky process of navigating their way to reopening once more. But distributors are still facing the fallout of the lockdown from earlier this year, with Finding the Way Back initially planned for a cinema debut in March this year. Now, Warner Bros is skipping the big screen for a streaming premiere instead.
The film follows Jack Cunningham (Ben Affleck), who once had a life filled with promise. In high school, he was a basketball star with a full university scholarship, when suddenly, for reasons unknown, he walked away from the game, forfeiting his future. Now years later, Jack is spiraling down, triggered by an unspeakable loss, and drowning in the alcoholism that cost him his marriage and any hope for a better life. When he is asked to coach the basketball team at his alma mater, which has fallen far since his glory days, he reluctantly accepts, surprising no one more than himself. As the boys start to come together as a team and win, Jack may have finally found a reason to confront the demons that have derailed him. But will it be enough to fill the void, heal the deep wounds of his past, and set him on the road to redemption?
Affleck co-stars with Al Madrigal (Night School), Michaela Watkins (TV’s Casual), and Janina Gavankar (TV’s True Blood). The film is written by Brad Ingelsby and directed by Gavin O’Connor (The Accountant).
It will be available to rent as a premium VOD title on Friday 10th July on iTunes, Amazon Prime Video, TalkTalk TV, Rakuten TV, Google Play, Sky Store and CHILI. The decision sees the drama follow in the footsteps of Warner’s Scoob!, which will also be released on digital platforms in the UK on the same day.
