Famalam will return to BBC Three for a third season and a Christmas special.
The sketch show, which started out as a comedy pilot, aired its first full series in 2018 and has become a hit success for the online channel. The series has received a number of award nominations, including both BAFTA and RTS Award nominations for cast member Samson Kayo, and, earlier this year, a BAFTA Craft Award for Breakthrough Talent for writer, producer and composer Akemnji Ndifornyen.
Now, with Season 2 finishing its run on BBC One, BBC Three has ordered a third run of episodes and a one-off Christmas special, which will feature new sketches as well as favourite moments from the past two seasons.
“BBC Three’s hilarious sketch show is a non-stop barrage of laughs and memorable characters,” we wrote in our review of the show.
Famalam Season 3 and the Christmas special were commissioned by Shane Allen, Controller of Comedy Commissioning and Fiona Campbell, Controller, BBC Three. Famalam is a BBC Studios production, produced by Akemnji Ndifornyen, directed by Tom Marshall and executive produced by Ben Caudwell. The commissioning editors for the BBC are Sarah Asante and Gregor Sharp.
Allen says: “Famalam goes from strength to strength in keeping the modern day sketch show flag flying high with its super-talented cast, pin sharp social commentary and ideas that poke fun in all directions.”
Ndifornyen adds: “Going for a three-peat! Excited to bring this beast back for another side splitting run! Third time’s the charm!”
Season 1 and 2 are on BBC iPlayer, with Season 1 available until 27th June 2019 and Season 2 until September 2019.
