Doctor Proctor’s Fart Powder is now available to watch online in the UK.
The film is based on the kids’ book by Norwegian Jo Nesbø, the author best known for his violent Nordic noir novels about detective Harry Hole. Would you trust the man to write a story for kids? Many do, as the books have already sold more copies in Norway than any other children’s debut, while the rights have been sold in more than 25 countries.
Indeed, Doktor Proktors Prompepulver (as it is called in its original language) has now been turned into a film, directed by Arild Fröhlich and adapted for the screen by Swedish TV veteran Johan Bogaeus.
The film follows the somewhat insane Doctor Proctor, who has accidentally invented the world’s most powerful fart powder. When two kids from his neighborhood drop by for an unexpected visit, it becomes the beginning of an unusual friendship and a riotous business project. Well-behaved Lisa with her pigtails and tiny Nilly with his bright red hair decide to help introduce Doctor Proctor’s fart powder to the world. But this turns out to be an adventure fraught with danger, as the wealthy and evil Mr. Thrane and his two creepy sons are willing to do anything to get their hands on the fart powder.
The mad professor comedy, complete with animals lurking in the sewer and farts can send people into space, hit UK cinemas on Friday 31st July, the same day that it was released on VOD platforms. The movie is now available to rent or buy on Virgin Movies, EE, TalkTalk, Eircom, Google Play, Amazon Instant Video and iTunes.
