Disney Gallery will return to Disney+ this summer for a special behind-the-scenes episode exploring The Mandalorian’s Season 2 finale.
The documentary, which initially explored Season 1 of the Star Wars series across multiple episodes, returned last year for a one-off making-of episode focused on Season 2 – from early concept art through the new technology introduced in the production.
Now, it’s returning to look at the climax of Season 2, which saw the surprise appearance of a young Luke Skywalker. Reaction to the episode was emotionally-charged for many fans, and Disney Gallery will delve into the cutting-edge technology used to bring Luke back. It will chart the collaborative process, including working with Mark Hamill, to create an authentic and fitting recreation, and explores the pressure and responsibility the filmmakers faced in bringing back one of the most important characters in Star Wars history.
Disney Gallery: Star Wars: The Mandalorian – Making of the Season 2 Finale will premiere on 25th August on Disney+. It arrives just as Disney campaigns for awards consideration, after The Mandalorian’s second season was nominated for 24 Emmy awards, including Best Drama.
