Detective Cain returns for Season 2 this July, thanks to Walter Presents.
The French crime drama follows Cain, a maverick cop with bags of charm who just happens to be in a wheelchair – a fact he isn’t afraid of exploiting and using to his advantage at any opportunity. Cain does nothing by the book and is prepared to break all the rules on his hunt for Marseilles’ most prolific and serious criminals.
Seriously injured in the line of duty, Cain has not lost his love of flashy sports cars and beautiful women. He’s a fast mover, spinning circles around his suspects, showing up when they least expect it, using his disability to break with convention and occasionally even the law.
The series stars Bruno Debrandt, whom UK fans will recognise from French series Spiral and Walter Presents thriller Reborn.
“The character is very unique and very rare,” he told us in an interview. “We were pretty sure we would just have one chance, one season and goodbye, and the DNA of the character, it was quite fancy – it’s a very tough guy in a wheelchair, so not gentle at all, very special in his humour and very rough. This is the surface. In fact, he’s a real good man, but he’s very… it’s not like Dr. House, because Dr. House is very depressed. But between the two characters, there is something about why people treat him like that. They want to question god. They want to be god. But Dr. House is very hard with the people. Cain escaped death, so he knows now the precious of living. He is running after that. He wants the best for you. Even if you are a criminal, do it well!”
The show has already reached its seventh season, and now, the second is finally hitting UK screens. Season 2 sees our hero trapped not only by twisted murderers, but also by his colleague Lucie and his turbulent feelings towards her. Despite this distraction the two team up when a mother and her teenage daughter are kidnapped by a masked stranger. The husband and father of the victims is the main suspect, but nothing is ever that simple, especially when nobody tells the whole truth.
All 8 episodes of Season 2 will premiere on Walter Presents, via All 4, on 10th July.

Detective Cain finally arrives on UK TV this September, with Walter Presents releasing the first season.
The Frech crime drama follows Cain, a maverick cop with bags of charm who just happens to be in a wheelchair – a fact he isn’t afraid of exploiting and using to his advantage at any opportunity.
When a murdered body in the morgue is linked to a crime from years ago, Cain turns to former detective Allard who was the lead on the original investigation. Regretful of having possibly imprisoned the wrong suspect and now tormented by terminal cancer, Allard is determined to redeem himself before his time is up. However, as the bodies begin to pile up Cain’s digging into the past throws up some unforeseen consequences…
Cain is a smash hit series in France where it is now on its seventh season. It stars Bruno Debrandt, whom UK fans will recognise from French series Spiral and Walter Presents thriller Reborn. Speaking to us about the latter, Debrandt described Cain as “very intense” and challenging to make.
“It’s very hard. It takes six months of my time,” he said. His sporting history helps him with the role, he admitted, after an injury saw him briefly in a wheelchair.
“The character is very unique and very rare,” he added.
All eight episodes of Cain: Season 1 will be available as a box set on All 4 from 6th September.
