Dakota Johnson is heading to Amazon for new comedy Rodeo Queens.
The Fifty Shades star, who most recently starred in The High Note, released early on digital last month, will lead the project, both starring and exec-producing.
The series is created by Christy Hall, the co-creator of Netflix’s I Am Not Okay With This, who will serve as showrunner. It will be directed by Portlandia co-creator Carrie Brownstein.
The series follows a group of Rodeo Queen hopefuls as they compete for the coveted crown.
Amazon Studios nabbed the project in a what Deadline reports was a competitive situation from Platform One Media. Johnson is exec-producing via her production company TeaTime Pictures, with her TeaTime co-founder Ro Donnelly and Elisa Ellis. A writers room will soon be opened.
