One Mississippi returns to Amazon Prime Video for Season 2 – and a new trailer gives us a closer look at the show’s sophomore run.
The comedy, which is created by Emmy Award nominated comedian Tig Notaro (Transparent) and Diablo Cody (Young Adult), stars Notaro as a semi-fictional version of herself, as she returns to her hometown in Mississippi, when her mother passes away unexpectedly. Trailer: One Mississippi Season 2 to premiere in September
26th July 2017
One Mississippi will return for Season 2 this September – and we’ve got a first look at the show’s second run in action.
The comedy, which is created by Emmy Award nominated comedian Tig Notaro (Transparent) and Diablo Cody (Young Adult), stars Notaro as a semi-fictional version of herself, as she returns to her hometown in Mississippi, when her mother passes away unexpectedly. As she copes with the tragedy and deals with events from her past, the series becomes a poignant and surprisingly humorous exploration of family.
“That warts-and-all tone keeps you so emotionally engaged that you’ll be three-quarters of the way through the eight episodes before you know it – at which point you’ll be surprised to find yourself in tears,” we wrote in our review of the first season. “And yet even the moments that do make you cry are boldly underplayed, with one scene involving a mirror proving devastating in its simplicity. That’s the secret to One Mississippi’s sincerity: neither the comedy nor the drama feels forced, which, ironically, takes a colossal amount of unseen talent.”
Alongside Notaro, the show stars Noah Harpster (Transparent) as her brother and John Rothman (Law & Order) as her stepfather, Bill. Notaro, Cody, Robin, M. Blair Breard (Better Things), Dave Becky (Master of None), and Louis C.K. (Louie) all act as Executive Producers for Season 2.
Season 2 reportedly picks up with Tag once again living with Bill and brother, as she resumes her radio career in Biloxi with producer Kate (Stephanie Allynne) by her side.
All episodes will premiere on Amazon Prime Video o nFriday 8th September. Here’s a trailer:
