Curzon Home Cinema is getting into the live-streaming game.
The VOD service, operated by Curzon, has long established itself as a site for watching the latest independent and art house movies on your Smart TV, mobile device or computer, with a large number of day-and-date releases from its own label, Artificial Eye, and other distributors. Now, the site is branching out into new territory, with a new strand of events streamed live to users.
Following the recent launch of the Curzon Player apps for iOS and Android devices, this new live streaming strand is the latest expansion to Curzon’s VOD arm, giving film lovers nationwide a chance to be part of the excitement of live Curzon Cinema events.
Curzon Home Cinema is kicking off its live events with a Q&A for Matteo Garrone’s new film, Tale of Tales. The Palme d’Or nominee is released in cinemas and on Curzon Home Cinema on Friday 17th June, marking the widest ever day-and-date opening for a film in the UK.
Garrone’s acclaimed English language debut is an adaptation of the 16th century fairy tales collected by Neapolitan poet and royal courtier – Giambattista Basile – and stars Vincent Cassel, Salma Hayek, Toby Jones and John C. Reilly. Sorcerers, fairies and fearsome monsters, monarchs, witches and courtesans are the protagonists of this grown-up anthology, with the interlinking stories of these fantastic characters set against the stunning backdrop of the Italian landscape.
On Wednesday 1st June, Salma Hayek, Toby Jones and Shirley Henderson will join the director at Curzon Mayfair for the premiere of the film – and Curzon Home Cinema users can be part of the red carpet and Q&A event.
The red carpet event will stream for free on Curzon Home Cinema from 9.30pm to 9.40pm, with the Q&A taking place from 9.4pm to 10.15pm.
“Curzon is staying ahead of the game, expanding our innovative day and date strategy to encompass live streaming and bringing the excitement of cinema events, usually confined to London, to the rest of the country,” says Director of Curzon Home Cinema Philip Mordecai.
