Curzon acquires On a Magical Night and The Girl with a Bracelet

Curzon has acquired the rights to two new films to release online this summer.
The independent cinema chain, which also operates as a distributor and has its own streaming platform (Curzon Home Cinema), is uniquely placed in the modern entertainment landscape. It has long released films day-and-date for digital viewing, and has an ongoing partnership with MUBI to stream titles to subscribers. With its cinemas closed during the coronavirus pandemic, then, it has continued that side of its business as usual, streaming titles on Curzon Home Cinema.
Now, that pipeline of releases is getting a boost with the acquisition of Christophe Honoré’s On A Magical Night and Stéphane Demoustier’s The Girl with A Bracelet. Both films will be released in coming weeks exclusively via Curzon Home Cinema, with theatrical screenings planned for when cinemas reopen.
Both deals were negotiated with Jean-Félix Dealberto at Charades.
Louisa Dent, MD of Curzon Artificial Eye, says: “Our customers on Curzon Home Cinema are looking for interesting and exciting new films and these two films, in their own unique way, provide that with aplomb. We are delighted to bring them to audiences in June.”
On a Magical Night
This follows an all-star French cast as they romp through a fantastical farce full of sex and infidelity. After 20 years of marriage, Maria (played by Chiara Mastroianni) decides to stir the pot of her marriage by revealing an infidelity and moves to the hotel opposite her marital home. From there, Maria can scrutinise her apartment, her husband, her wedding. This A Christmas Carol – for people who are sick of their spouses.
It will be released on 19th June.
The Girl with A Bracelet
A teenager stands trial for murdering her best friend. Featuring a mysterious and enigmatic breakthrough performance from newcomer Melissa Guers, this gripping courtroom procedural forensically probes the anatomy of a trial, posing questions about how society judges young women inside and outside the courtroom.
It will be released on 26th June.
