Crisis in Six Scenes: Your first look at Woody Allen’s Amazon TV series
8th August 2016
Your first look at Woody Allen’s Amazon TV series is here, with a new teaser trailer for the show, which now has a title.
The comedy is called Crisis in Six Scenes, Amazon announced at its Television Critics Association press event in the US, and will, fittingly, span six episodes. The series, which marks the director’s first foray into small-screen directing, takes place in the 1960s, during “turbulent times in the United States”, with a middle-class suburban family visited by a guest who turns their household completely upside down.
Allen stars as Sidney Muntzinger, a writer, who, judging by the reception of his new book by his barber, isn’t doing very well. His barber explains in a tease of the first scene that it kept putting him to sleep. It’s only a novella, retorts Muntzinger, before asking to have his hair cut like James Dean.
The show stars Miley Cyrus alongside Allen, plus Elaine May, John Magaro, Rachel Brosnahan, Michael Rapaport, Becky Ann Baker, Lewis Black, Margaret Ladd, Joy Behar, Rebecca Schull, David Harbour and Christine Ebersole. Scene 2 was also teased to attendees in the US, which Deadline reports showcases Miley Cyrus’ role in the show, as she lectures Sidney about a hot fudge machine in his kitchen.
The show will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on Friday 30th September. Here’s the new clip:
