Amazon announces competitions to become Vikings and Ripper Street extras

Amazon is giving Prime members the chance to become an extra in the new seasons of Vikings and Ripper Street.
History’s hit drama was snapped up by Amazon exclusively in the UK back when it first began. Now, several years later, Ragnar and co. are sailing onto British shores once again in spring 2015 for a fourth season.
The show is filmed in Ireland, where one lucky winner will be flown out (with a friend) for a two-day trip. While there, they will visit the VIkings set and be filmed as an extra in an episode. Travel, accommodation and spending money will be provided, plus a signed Vikings Season 3 script, and the chance to meet the show’s cast and crew.
The Vikings prize draw will be open from Wednesday 22nd July to Thursday 28th July.
It will be followed by a similar competition for Ripper Street, which will also return for a fourth season next year.
Prime customers can enter the draw to win a walk-on extra part in the show, which is also filmed in Ireland. The two-day trip to Dublin will include a visit to the Ripper Street set, where they will be filmed as an extra for the upcoming season. Travel, accommodation and spending money will be provided, plus a signed Ripper Street Season 3 script, and the chance to meet the show’s cast and crew.
The Ripper Street draw will run from Wednesday 29th July to Thursday 4th August.
The two competitions will be open exclusively to Amazon Prime members. Indeed, the announcement follows a whole day dedicated to discounts for Prime customers on Wednesday 15th July, which Amazon has dubbed “Prime Day“. The 24-hour event, which marks the online retailer’s 20th birthday, is already giving away two tickets to the Transparent Season 2 premiere in Los Angeles. For more on that, click here.
Amazon will be hoping the giveaways encourage new customers to sign up to a full Prime membership. Indeed, while Amazon Prime Instant Video is available for £5.99 a month, a membership costs £79 per year, which works out at £6.58 a month and includes free next-day delivery in the UK. New members can get a 30-day free trial of Prime.
