Netflix has nabbed the global rights to Crímenes de Familia, a new Argentine film starring Cecilia Roth.
Roth is something of a screen legend, having starred in a number of Almodóvar films, including I’m So Excited, Pain and Glory and All About My Mother, picking up two Goya Awards along the way. Crímenes de Familia sees her play Alicia, a desperate mother who will do the impossible to prevent his only son, Daniel (Benjamin Amadeo), from being sentenced to prison on charges of attempted murder of his ex-wife. In the middle of all this, Alicia also discovers a rugged hidden plot that will change her life completely – into a nightmare.
The thriller is directed by Sebastián Schindel (The Boss, Anatomy of a Crime, Mundo alas, Rerum novarum), who also wrote the screenplay with Pablo del Teso. In front of the camera, Roth is joined by Miguel Ángel Solá, Benjamín Amadeo and Sofía Gala Castiglione, with Yanina Ávila and Marcelo Subiotto completing the cast, with the special participation of Paola Barrientos, Diego Cremonesi and Claudio Martínez Bel.
The film is produced byBuffalo Films and Magoya Films and will be released on Netflix internationally on 20th August, with the title “The Crimes That Bind” in the US and UK.
The Crimes That Bind is available on Netflix UK, as part of an £9.99 monthly subscription.
