The winners of the 2022 Screen Actors Guild Awards have bee announced, and CODA and Squid Game emerged out in front of the competition.

One of the most talked-about TV shows of last year, Netflix’s Squid Game has become a veritable global hit, so its success at the SAG awards was perhaps no surprise, as it won the female and male acting prizes for TV drama, as well as the stunt ensemble prize.

But a more surprising success story came in the form of Apple TV+, as the still relatively young streaming service once again scored a win with Ted Lasso. The footballing hit bagged both the comedy ensemble series prize and male comedy series prize for star Jason Sudeikis. Now, though, Apple TV+ is also enjoying success for its feature films, with CODA winning the coveted outstanding cast ensemble prize as well as the supporting actor prize for Troy Kotsur.

Other notable wins included Jessica Chastain in The Eyes of Tammy Faye, seeing off competition from House of Gucci’s Lady Gaga and The Lost Daughter’s Olivia Colman, Will Smith for King Richard – trumping The Power of the Dog’s Benedict Cumberbatch and Andrew Garfield in Tick, Tick… Boom – and Ariana DeBose for West Side Story.
