Trailer: Causeway arrives on Apple TV+ on November

Jennifer Lawrence heads to Apple TV+ this November to star in Causeway – and a new trailer gives us a look at the drama.
Directed by Lila Neugebauer, the film follows Lynsey, a military engineer who has returned to the USA from Afghanistan with a debilitating brain injury after an IED explosion. It’s a painful and slow recovery as she relearns to walk and retrains her memory, aided by a chatty but tender caretaker (Jayne Houdyshell). But when she returns home to New Orleans she has to face memories even more aching and formative than those she had in service — a reckoning with her childhood.
Staying with her mother (Linda Emond), with whom she shares a tense relationship, all Lynsey wants to do is return to her work as an engineer. Her doctor (Stephen McKinley Henderson) is wary, and so in the meantime, she gets a job cleaning swimming pools. When her truck breaks down she meets James Aucoin (Brian Tyree Henry), who works at the auto repair shop and offers her a ride home. Slowly they start to rely on each other for company and solace. James, it turns out, is also suppressing his own past trauma.
A story about coming to terms and moving forward, it’s written by Ottessa Moshfegh, Luke Goebel and Elizabeth Sanders and is produced by Lawrence and Justine Ciarrocchi, with Neugebauer, Jacob Jaffke, Sophia Lin, Patricia Clarkson, Kirk Michael Fellows and Christopher J. Surgent serving as executive producers.
It has its UK premiere at the London Film Festival on Saturday 8th October, before going on to stream on Apple TV+ on 4th November. Here’s the trailer:

Jennifer Lawrence is heading to Apple TV+ for new film Causeway.
From theatre director Lila Neugebauer (The Waverly Gallery, Maid, The Last Thing He Told Me) and in partnership with A24, Causeway is an intimate portrait of a soldier struggling to adjust to her life after returning home to New Orleans. Lawrence (Don’t Look Up, Silver Linings Playbook, American Hustle) will star in and produce the film, with Brian Tyree Henry (Atlanta, Bullet Train, If Beale Street Could Talk) co-starring.
Filmed in New Orleans, the film is written by Ottessa Moshfegh, Luke Goebel and Elizabeth Sanders. Justine Ciarrocchi is producing for Excellent Cadaver and, in addition to directing, Neugebauer serves as executive producer.
The film joins a growing line-up of Apple feature projects, as the streamer and tech giant build on the momentum of winning the Best Picture Oscar for CODA earlier this year. Apple’s upcoming slate includes Raymond & Ray, starring Ewan McGregor and Ethan Hawke, Peter Farrelly’s The Greatest Beer Run Ever, a new dramedy starring Zac Efron and Russell Crowe, Spirited, a modern musical rendition of A Christmas Carol starring Ryan Reynolds, Will Ferrell and Octavia Spencer, and Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio’s Killers of the Flower Moon.
