This year’s British Independent Film Awards will be live-streamed this February, with Tom Felton on hosting duties.
The 45-minute ceremony will see the Harry Potter star, who is currently filming Sky Cinema movie Save the Cinema, joined by friends and special guests including British and international film talent, helping to reveal the winners to a virtual audience.
Helping to reveal the winners will be Riz Ahmed, nominated in four categories, Zendaya, Daniel Kaluuya, Armando Iannucci, James Norton and Daisy Edgar Jones. Also presenting are Sex Education’s Ncuti Gatwa and Aimee Lou Wood, Ted Lasso co-stars Brett Goldstein and Juno Temple, Bridgerton’s Regé-Jean Page, and Golden Globe nominees Emma Corrin and Maria Bakalova.
Rafe Spall and Esther Smith, Susan Wokoma and Yinka Bokinni will present awards and will also join Tom for a live virtual chat during the ceremony.
The actor and producer, who is no stranger to streaming thanks to roles in Netflix’s A Babysitter’s Guide to Monster Hunting and YouTube’s Origin, said: “British Film has been part of my life for as long as I can remember and now, more than ever, it is so important to support, recognise and celebrate those brilliant creatives who make them. Film brings us all together and I’m delighted to be hosting this year’s British Independent Film Awards.”
The ceremony will take place on BIFA’s Facebook page and YouTube channel at 8pm on 18th February. It will be produced by Annie Hughes and Jack Clark and executive produced by Catherine Bray from Little Dot Studios.
The nominations were announced in December, with Saint Maud, His House, Rocks, Calm With Horses, Mogul Mowgli and The Father leading the field. You can see the full list of nominees here.
