Hope: Nicole Kidman to star in Amazon series

Nicole Kidman is attached to star in Hope, a new Amazon series based on the Norwegian film of the same name.
Directed by Maria Sødahl, the 2019 drama starred Stellan Skarsgård and Andrea Bræin Hovig as a couple who have achieved successful careers in theatre and dance. Their blended family structure is complicated, with two young sons and an adolescent daughter from their own union and two adult children from Tomas’ marriage. Soon after the debut of a ballet Anja has directed, though, she is diagnosed with an inoperable tumour connected to the lung cancer she had treated the previous year.
Amazon has acquired the rights to the film, reports Deadline, which has been selected as the Norwegian entry for Best International Feature Film category at the 2021 Academy Awards. Amazon will adapt the story into a TV drama, charting 12 days in the life of the family, including the unravelling of a marriage, at Christmas time. which Kidman will also exec-produce through her Blossom Films banner.
The series will be adapted by Alice Bell, who is also working on Amazon’s The Expatriates. Bell will also serve as an exec-producer, alongside Per Saari.
