Atlanta renewed for Season 4

FX has renewed Atlanta for a fourth season.
The series, which is created by and written by Glover, stars the Community veteran as Earnest Marks, who drops out of Princeton and returns to his hometown of Atlanta. There, he discovers that his cousin, Alfred, has become the city’s hottest new rap act.
The show follows the two cousins as they work through the Atlanta music scene in order to better their lives and the lives of their families. Co-starring with Glover are Brian Tyree Henry, Lakeith Stanfield, and Zazie Beetz.
Glover also directs, alongside Janicza Bravo (Netflix’s Love) and regular Childish Gambino collaborator Hiro Murai. He exec produces the programme too, along with Paul Simms, Dianne McGunigle and Stephen Glover.
“Atlanta mixes serious focus with random, highly silly and very funny ideas,” we wrote in our review of Season 1. “Gorgeously shot, with great music drops throughout, the show feels entirely its own, unique thing, where Glover’s starring role doesn’t mean it’s all about him. That plenty of characters get great laugh lines, nice emotional beats, and an episode to explore their worldview means Atlanta grows as the season chugs along, and has possibility for further expansion over the years.”
FX renewed the show for a second season within weeks of Season 1’s premiere. Since then, with Glover focusing on Childish Gambino and other projects, Atlanta fans have been waiting for news on the season’s return. Now, FX has confirmed that production on Season 3 will kick off in spring 2020 – along with Season 4.
“What more can be said about ‘Atlanta’ than the critical acclaim and accolades that Donald, Paul [Simms], Dianne [McGunigle], Stephen [Glover], and Hiro [Murai] have earned for two exceptional seasons of what is clearly one of the best shows on television,” Eric Schrier, president of FX, commented in a statement. “This group of collaborators and cast have created one of the most original, innovative stories of this generation and we are proud to be their partners.”
Each episode will comprise eight episodes. The news arrives as Atlanta Season 2 is available as a full box set on BBC iPlayer.
