Apple TV+ previews autumn slate

Apple may have unveiled a new iPad and other technological updates at its live event this week, but it also unveiled something more interesting – a preview of its autumn film and TV slate, and the line-up makes it clear just how ambitious its streaming plans are.
On Friday, its flagship drama The Morning Show returned for a second season, and this coming week will see the debut of its new sci-fi epic Foundation, based on the classic Asimov tale. They’re both in the teaser for Apple’s upcoming originals, but they’re also just the top of an iceberg that also includes topical satire (The Problem with Jon Stewart), post-apocalyptic drama (Finch), dark comedy (The Shrink Next Door) and awards contenders (Swan Song), each one following Apple’s strategy of boasting a star-studded cast.
Here’s the rundown of the big shows coming soon to Apple TV+:
Foundation – 24th September
Premiering with the first two episodes, the epic, world-building saga marks the first-ever on-screen adaptation of Isaac Asimov’s iconic novel series.
The Problem with Jon Stewart – 30th September
The new current affairs series from acclaimed host, writer, producer, director and advocate Jon Stewart.
The Velvet Underground – 15th October
A new feature documentary from Academy Award-nominated director Todd Haynes.
Invasion – 22nd October
Academy Award-nominated and two-time Emmy Award-nominated producer Simon Kinberg and David Weil’s sweeping, character-driven science fiction drama series.
Swagger – 29th October
A new basketball-themed drama series inspired by NBA superstar Kevin Durant’s youth basketball experiences from writer, director and executive producer Reggie Rock Bythewood.
Finch – 5th November
On the heels of the blockbuster Apple Original Film Greyhound, Tom Hanks’ latest film releases around the world.
Dickinson: Season 3 – 5th November The third and final season of creator Alena Smith’s Peabody Award-winning series starring and executive produced by Hailee Steinfeld debuts on November 5.
The Shrink Next Door – 12th November
A new, dark comedy series starring and executive produced by Will Ferrell and Paul Rudd.
Swan Song – 17th December
The Apple Original Film starring and produced by Mahershala Ali.
