Jason Momoa will return to Apple TV+ this August for Season 3 of See – and a new trailer gives us a first look at the final chapter in the post-apocalyptic saga.
See is set in a brutal future, hundreds of years after humankind has lost the ability to see.
“Jason Momoa and Dave Bautista ground See’s ambitious second season in brutal brotherly tension,” we wrote in our review of Season 2.
In Season 3, almost a year has passed since Baba Voss (Momoa) has bid farewell to his family to live remotely in the forest, but when a Trivantian scientist develops a new and devastating form of sighted weaponry that threatens the future of humanity, Baba returns to Paya in order to protect his tribe once more.
“We are thrilled to share this epic final chapter of ‘See,’ which delivers all the intense drama, riveting action and heartfelt emotion fans have come to expect, as well as what we think is a deeply satisfying conclusion to our story,” said showrunner and executive producer Jonathan Tropper. “Building a world without sight was a particularly unique and continuous challenge that was met through the passionate and thoughtful collaboration of a phenomenally talented and diverse team both in front of and behind the camera. The show has been a monumental labor of love for all involved, and we are eternally grateful for the way ‘See’ has been embraced by viewers around the world.”
The eight-episode third season will premiere on 26th August, with episodes arriving one at a time weekly on Fridays.
Apple TV+ orders See Season 3
11th June 2021
Apple TV+ has already renewed See for a third season.
The sci-fi series takes place in the far future and humankind has lost its sense of sight. It stars Jason Momoa as leader Baba Voss, who decides to raise two children born with the ability to see – only for trouble to come calling.
“This enjoyably ambitious sci-fi dystopia is packed with gruff potential,” we wrote in our review.
The show will return for Season 2 later this year, with Baba Voss fighting to reunite his torn-apart family and get away from the war and politics that surround him. But the more he moves away, the deeper he gets sucked in, and the emergence of his nemesis brother threatens his family even more.
It will introduce Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy) as Edo Voss, the brother of Baba Voss. New series regular cast members also joining Bautista this season include Eden Epstein (Sweetbitter), Tom Mison (Watchmen), Hoon Lee (Warrior), Olivia Cheng (Warrior), David Hewlett (The Shape of Water) and Tamara Tunie (Flight).
Before Season 2 has even arrived, though, Apple has already greenlit a third run, describing it as a “fan favourite” since it premiered on Apple TV+ in November 2019 as one of its flagship launch titles.
The series features cast and crew who are blind or have low vision and has been honored for its representation of the visually impaired, winning the Ruderman Family Foundation Seal of Authentic Representation in 2020.
See is executive produced by Steven Knight, Francis Lawrence, Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping, Jim Rowe and Jonathan Tropper, who also serves as showrunner. The series is produced by Chernin Entertainment and Endeavor Content.
