Apple TV+ inks overall deal with Monica Beletsky

Apple TV+ has inked an overall deal with Monica Beletsky.
The tech giant’s fledgling new subscription streaming service launched this weekend, with a slew of high-profile names attached to projects, from Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston to Jason Momoa and Oprah Winfrey. But in the current streaming wars, individual star-studded projects isn’t enough to compete: you also need to retain that talent.
And so Apple is wasting no time in following in Netflix and Amazon’s footsteps by inking its own overall deals with prominent talent. Justin Lin, Alfonso Cuaron and Jason Katina have signed deals with the new VOD on the bloke. Now, Monica Beletsky (Fargo, The Leftovers, Parenthood) has joined them.
Beletsky is no stranger to Katims, having worked on Friday Night Lights and Parenthood for a combination of six seasons (Kerry Ehrin, another alumni, is also under an overall deal with Apple TV+). Beletsky has since has developed or produced projects at HBO Films, FX and Amazon, with a CV that includes Fargo, The Leftovers and TNT’s I Am the Night. She also has two feature films in development with Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine.
In what marks Beletsky’s first overall agreement, her multi-year deal with Apple will see her develop, write and produce TV series exclusively for Apple TV+.
“Some professional good news. I’m thrilled and honored to create shows with @AppleTV,” she tweeted. “Tweeps, you’ve been so supportive & I hope to make you proud!”
