Anima: Paul Thomas Anderson and Thom Yorke team up for Netflix short film

Paul Thomas Anderson and Thom Yorke are teaming up for Anima, a new Netflix short film.
Described as a “one-reeler”, after the 10 to 12-minute shorts made during the heyday of celluloid that would be contained on one reel of film, the film is a short musical featuring the Radiohead frontman. As well as scoring the movie, York stars in what they call a “mind-bending visual piece”.
This is not the first time Paul Thomas Anderson has dabbled in streaming: his 2015 film, Junun, made with Jonny Greenwood during a trip to Rajasthan in North-western India, was released worldwide by MUBI the day after its premiere at the New York Film Festival that year.
Anima will launch on Netflix globally on 27th June, with preview screenings in select IMAX cinemas on 26th June. You can get free IMAX tickets to the advance screenings at www.imax.com/Anima. In the meantime, here’s the trailer:
Anima is available on Netflix UK, as part of an £9.99 monthly subscription.
