Richard Hammond is returning to Amazon Prime Video this month for The Great Escapists, and a new trailer gives us a first look at the unlikely series.

It will see the Grand Tour host shipwrecked on a desert island along with Tory Belleci of MythBusters. Rather than sitting around waiting to be rescued, the pair decide to take matters into their own hands as they use all of their engineering and expert scientific prowess not only to survive, but to construct an out-of-this-world, paradise island playground.

Each episode will see them take on feats of engineering, from island hopping vehicles to a super-sized hydro-power waterwheel. The series launches on Amazon Prime Video on 29th January. Here’s the trailer:

 

Amazon orders new series from Richard Hammond

Amazon has ordered a new series from Richard Hammond.

The series will see Hammond (The Grand Tour) and Tory Belleci (MythBusters) find themselves shipwrecked in mysterious circumstances, stranded on a remote yet beautiful desert island. Rather than sitting around waiting to be rescued, the pair decide to take matters into their own hands as they use all of their engineering and expert scientific prowess not only to survive, but to construct an out-of-this-world, paradise island playground.

It follows Richard and Tory as they masterfully construct their exotic wonderland using what they have from the shipwreck and what they can find on the island. Each episode will see them take on feats of engineering in what will be a once in a lifetime operation for the two lovers of science, engineering and making the impossible, possible. The duo’s hare-brained builds will range from island hopping vehicles to a super-sized hydro-power waterwheel.

Amazon has ordered six episodes of the untitled programme from Chimp Productions.
