Amazon has greenlit a new docuseries about Sergio Ramos, captain of Real Madrid and the Spanish national football team.
The second-ever Spanish Prime Original series, currently in production, is a half-hour, eight-episode depiction of the daily life of the world football star, exploring what it takes to be an elite player, including private moments shared with his family.
The aim is togive Prime Video viewers an unprecedented look at the life of a Ramos on and off the field, showing a different side to the player that has never been captured on TV before. Although football is at the heart of the show, it will also get to know the most important elements from outside the field that have shaped Sergio’s personality and values: his family (where each person has a story to tell about him), his roots from Andalusia in southern Spain and his passion for tattoos. Viewers will also discover his legacy from his beginnings in Seville through to his leadership at national level and at Real Madrid.

“We are incredibly excited to bring this exclusive project with Sergio Ramos to Prime members and football fans all over the world,” says Georgia Brown, Director of European Originals, Amazon Prime Video. “It is a fantastic addition to our Prime Video programming slate in Spain. We’re sure our customers will love seeing Sergio in these unique and private moments on and off the field.”
“I’m excited to be able to show football fans what it takes to be a professional athlete, the responsibility of wearing Real Madrid’s and Spain’s armband and how to juggle that with a normal personal life. I think that anyone who is devoted to his profession can feel reflected in the series and there is no better partner to do so than Amazon Prime Video,” adds Sergio Ramos.
The untitled series will premiere in 2019.
