Amazon Studios has added another star name to its roster of talent with development deals: Blake Lively.
Lively, who broke out with teen drama Gossip Girl, has gone on to star in The Shallows and A Simple Favour and now, she’s stepping behind the camera to develop series for Amazon Studios. She already has two projects in the works, including one fashion-related series set in New York.
Amazon announced the deal at its recent TCA summer press event, with studio chief Jennifer Salke telling Deadline: “It took a long time but we just closed a deal with Blake, we closed a first-look deal and we’re talking and developing a show. It’s not ready. It’s set in New York, there’s a fashion component.”
The second show is based around an existing property, but Amazon did not reveal any details.
Lively, meanwhile, will next be seen in spy flick Rhythm Section, directed by The Handmaid’s Tale director Reed Morano, who also has an overall deal in place at Amazon Studios. Indeed, Amazon’s roster of A-list talent is growing by the week, with other development deals in place with Lena Waithe, Connie Britton, John Krasinski, Rachel Brosnahan, Daniel Dae Kim and Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, plus Goliath showrunner Larry Trilling
