Kento Yamazaki and Tao Tsuchiya will star together in Alice in Borderland, a new anime series from Netflix.
Based on a survival and thriller manga (originally published in Weekly Shonen Sunday S / Weekly Shonen Sunday) by Haro Aso, it follows Ryohei Alice (Alice), a listless, jobless and video-game-obsessed young man, who sees a strange light and suddenly finds himself in a mysteriously emptied out version of Tokyo along with his two best friends. They quickly discover that in this world, they must compete in one dangerous game after another in order to survive.
Shinsake Sato will direct, having helmed such manga adaptations as I Am a Hero and Kingdom. Yamazaki is known for his role in that movie, as well as for playing the lead character in Ninokuni. Tsuchiya, who played her first dubbing role for Charlie in Bumblebeee this year, is also reuniting with Sato, after they worked together on Library War.
